Zipper Henday Hoodie Pattern… more back to school sewing

Thank goodness for Gracious Threads!!! I have been adding to my kid’s Fall wardrobe early this year. Check out the newest pattern release the Henday Zip Up Hoodie.

Here is the hip-length version that I stitched up to test the pattern. I made a size 12 for my son – and the fit is great!

I followed the pattern exactly, except for the addition of a hood lining.

The side pockets are completed with ZIPPERS!  This was a first for me to do this style of welt pocket. The tutorial walked me through each step with great drawings. While I still need more practice with zippers, I found this jacket pattern to be easy to put together. And I also like the opportunity to work on new skills.

(if you look really close, can you see my big blunder on the pocket zippers?  I didn’t even notice until my son pointed it out during the photo shoot… ooops! bad sewist)

The fabric is black knit interlock on the sleeves and hood, and camo sweat knit fabric in the center.  All from Joann’s fabric store.

The patterns are available on etsy HERE and on Craftsy HERE

  1. Great Job Stacey! The outfit looks wonderful and I love how you included your thoughts on the pattern and added your own details. The photos are wonderful quality. Keep up the good work! I also like how you included the links to where people can find the patterns
