September Showcase with Busy Lizzy Dresses

September Showcase with Busy Lizzy Dresses

For the September Showcase at Frances Suzanne, I chose to showcase the Busy Lizzy pattern by Sew Like My Mom. I stitched up 4 versions of the Busy Lizzy Dress to represent each season, and called my collection “Celebrate each Season!”

For Winter, a Busy Lizzy dress with long sleeves, embellished with sparkling silver trim and lace makes the holidays dazzle.

For Spring, my girl needed a Busy Lizzy dress with short sleeves perfect for Easter.

For Summer, a Busy Lizzy sleeveless top, paired with Oakley shorts (also by Sew Like My Mom) is good for feeling cool in the sunshine.

More about the Busy Lizzy Dress & Shirt pattern…

The Busy Lizzy pattern makes a comfortable dress for your girl. It can be used as a good base dress or top for spectacular embellishing, enhancing, and accenting with all kinds of trims, buttons, and embroidery. The pattern is simple to sew up, includes clear directions and photos, explains how to prep the bias tape, and has oh-so-many options.

The neckline, sleeve edges, and bottom edges are covered in bias tape. The front neck has a deep pleat to make a flared a-line skirt. The back slit fastens with a single looped button. And there is an option for in seam POCKETS – I always like the extra special detail of pockets.

The pattern can be worked up into 4 sleeve options – I did one of each! no sleeves, short sleeves, half sleeves, and long sleeves… perfect for every season, which I why I decided my girl needed 4 versions.

  2. I. AM. DYING. You've seriously blown me completely away!! Thank you so much for sewing not one, but four of these!! They're all so incredible! I love your keyhole on the summer top and the way it mirrors the keyhole on the Oakley's. And that collar and the piping, the rick rack, the lace, the acorns–your details are gorgeous! Oh I could just gush over these all day. Thank you thank you thank you!
