One of my favorite pattern designers is Annemieke of Sofilantjes Patterns… I was a lucky tester of her latest pattern, the Iridis Wrap Dress for girls size 12m to 14. AND ready for this? you can stitch it up in knit fabric OR woven fabric according to the pattern, or a mix of knit AND woven fabrics as many testers did.
Look at the results on my beautiful niece!
The pattern is well written including printing layers, full measurements, pattern layouts, easy steps to follow, clear pictures and graphics, and a summary of steps at the end of the pattern with more graphics. This makes it easy to sew up more and more Iridis dresses.
Don’t let the curved seams worry you… the pattern pieces fit together perfectly!
My Iridis Wrap Dress is made from blue velour fabric for the wrap bodice front and long sleeves. The skirt is woven fabric from Joann’s, and the bias strips are made from a bright yellow woven fabric found in my stash drawer. I added a extra inch to the sleeve length, and left the bias ties long so they would wrap around the front of the dress too. I also added yellow bias to the edge of the arm cuffs for that little extra detail.
I was concerned that the wrap around might be too low in the front for my 12 year old niece, but it fits great!
This is an awesome-great-pattern that it stylish for younger girls and the tweens.
